IoT cloud for digital services through connected water fittings

The broad field of building automation offers great potential, especially in the area of water supply, e.g. to improve hygiene monitoring or facility management, especially in public or commercially used buildings. In order to make the relevant information available, com2m has set up an IoT cloud for monitoring water fittings and the state of hygiene for the company SCHELL Armaturen.

About SCHELL

The Olpe-based company SCHELL GmbH & Co. KG Armaturen is currently producing innovative and high-quality valves for the field of building technology in the third generation. Schell has been addressing installers, planners, architects and builders themselves with its products since 1932.

The expansion of the high-quality product portfolio with digital added value underlines the innovation awareness of the 450-strong company.

Together with com2m, SCHELL developed an intelligent water management system that continuously transmits usage data to a cloud via networked SCHELL water fittings, thus ensuring the safety of drinking water hygiene in the water network.

The highlights of the project

Fulfillment of safety and hygiene-relevant requirements

The holistic IoT cloud environment makes it possible for SCHELL customers to monitor and document the implementation of necessary hygiene flushes in order to comply with the obligation to provide proof.

Expansion of the portfolio with digital services

In addition to hygiene monitoring, the collected data is used for other services, such as the detection of defects, anomalies in water consumption and maintenance requirements.  These are provided to customers, e.B. in the form of monthly reports.

Remote Configuration and Support

Already during the commissioning of the water management, support can take place remotely through the IoT solution. Settings and configurations can be made centrally and can thus be easily managed across a large number of buildings.

Target

  • Ensuring and documenting water hygiene in buildings
  • Expansion of the portfolio with digital services
  • Hygiene monitoring, facility management, fulfilment of the obligation to provide proof of hygiene flushes, usage statistics, maintenance information and reports
  • Optimized commissioning and maintenance

Concept

  • Central recording and evaluation of locally generated data
  • Remote configuration of the systems
  • Development of digital services for facility management, up to the fulfillment of the obligation to provide proof of hygiene flushes
